The Università degli Studi di Milano, often simply called La Statale, is one of the leading public universities in Italy. Founded in 1924, it is located in the heart of Milan and offers a wide range of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs across various disciplines, including science, medicine, law, humanities, economics, and social sciences.

The university is renowned for the quality of its research, its international outlook, and its strong ties to the local community. It is a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and hosts several centers of research excellence. Its historic main building is located in the Ca’ Granda, one of the most significant Renaissance complexes in the city.

This is complemented by the Città Studi campus and the emerging hub at the Milan Innovation District (MIND). The research activities of the Department of Informatics cover a broad range of topics, organized into specific research lines, including algorithms and the foundations of computer science, data management and security, distributed and intelligent systems, machine learning and data analytics, multimedia and human-computer interaction, as well as software systems and programming languages.
